So what does everyone think is the best program for creating rips, and why?
I use ripaint to create my rips. While ripaint is a bit harder then tombstone to get used to, I believe it's better (maybe because it was the first program I used to draw rip). There aren't many differences between ripaint and tombstone except for the polygon drawing method and the way to draw lines (in tombstone you have to click where the line begins and click when the line ends, in ripaint you just click once and drag). In ripaint you can also save your palettes and make new patterns (artists like redman and wildcat used this feature i think).
ho ho ho well boys, i really think tombstone artist rocks your ass and ripaint, deadpaint sucks. i suck. you suck. we suck :)
I always used Deadpaint, because I thought it had the best user interface, which could even be customized. The problems with it were that I'd have to manually remove the "unregistered" text, but that wasn't too hard. The bigger problem was that it would crash a lot, generally the bigger the file, the more often it would crash.
I always thought tombstone artist was sort of clumsy to use, but lots of other people swear by it.. I guess it's the most stable thing out there. What about rippaint? How do tombart and rippaint compare?

I heard a rumour about crashes in ripaint, but it should only occur when drawing rips that are well over 100k :)
I don't know anything about deadpaint though, I never used it.
ps: it's rEdman i mentioned here, not rAdman (everybody seems to make the mistake:)
